Matsuri 2k1

Saturday:
We started a little late due to personal crisis (nothing to do with the costumes), but everything was cool and after making sure all the details were right away we went. It was very busy and crowded by the time we got there and not five seconds later someone came up and said - "You guys major Digimon fans?" - What do you think? Yumi had to go around and say hi to all her friends, most who thought we were "really cute!", and along the way being stopped by fanboys and girls. Some little kids just yelled out - "It's Mimi and Kari!" - and we would turn and wave. Some waved back. Others looked shocked/scared that we did so. Stopped some more and a few photo-ops later...
We were actually surprised how popular Digimon is. Even parents of little kids would say - "Look. Do you know who that is? They're from Digimon." - The only one who didn't seem to recognise us was the little boy wearing the Digimon shirt. Go figure. Of course we went shopping! That's part of the fun. In between trying to watch a few shows and being stopped some more. Luckily we found places to get away...
Then the highlight of the day!! Crystal and Yumi's performance. We sang "Ren'ai No Sainou" (Talent For Love) from Tenchi Muyo! Before we started a Japanese guy said - "Let's do this the professional way. One...two...One two three!" - We almost missed the beginning because we were laughing. The audience was great and people even stopped to listen and take more photos!! We were also told our Japanese was very good. What a great compliment. Some more shopping and a few more hi hi's from Yumi. A very full day! And although we wished we had more time it was getting chilly. There's always tomorrow!
A few more words from Crystal:
Matsuri! Lots of people, lots of attention! "It's Mimi and Kari!" seemed to be the catch phrase of the day. Yumi and I couldn't walk five feet without a picture being taken or a comment being made. And when we sang everyone turned to look and see what was going on! ^_~ Now that was fun!
Sunday:
Up early this time, but Yumi had to work in the morning. And unfortunately Crystal didn't come. So Scuzzi and Yumi met around lunch and it was delicious!
But besides food...Our costumes weren't easily recognisable today, but we figured that. We'll have our other Pokemon costumes soon enough. But people still recognised Yumi from the day before! Wow...Lower profile costumes gave us some time to ourselves. We still took time for our photos. We loved searching out spots for great scenery. It always adds to the overall effect! Hope our next costumes get to be shown the same way.
Watched a few shows, shopped even more, and had a customed made dragon candy made for Crystal!! It was a little quieter that day and a lot colder, but we didn't mind. Fun is fun!!
A little more from Scuzzi:
The best part of Matsuri was finding a book on how to make origami dolls and clothes! It's too much fun!!
