Matsuri 2k2
Once again all the PMC Girls got to go to Matsuri and here are their reports.
Yumi went both days because she had to work.
Crystal went Saturday and Scuzzi went Sunday.

SATURDAY

YUMI: We arrived a bit later than originally planned, but it didn't make much of a difference. In one way it wasn't as good as last year in another way it wasn't so bad. Less dealers and the ones there basically carry the same stuff as they do every year so it was really difficult to decide what to buy. I mean you always have to have some sort of souvenir at every event you attend ^_^ I had to work part of the time, but it was okay since I got rather bored pretty quickly. Of course I had to say hello to everyone I knew (which takes a lot of time :P). Crystal and I went this day and apparently Momusu isn't as strange as Digimon because everyone thought we were cute :) Except for one friend who said - "Look for someone dressed like freaks and you'll find Yumi and Crystal!" Freaks...*lol* Then she hangs with us for the rest of the day. Didn't watch many shows and such this year. Maybe we've gone too often? *g* It was very busy and I think more people attended this year. Obviously I don't have much to say ^^ So what did I buy? It's sooo cute! It's a box with metallic electronic good luck crickets that sing! As for the weather - I thought it would be cold because that's the way it's been, but it got really hot for a few hours then luckily some clouds moved in and there was a nice breeze. Okay. On to the next day...

CRYSTAL: Unfortunately I have to say that Matsuri has been more exciting in past years. (This might have something to do with several missing merchant stands who didn't return this year). The weather was nice though - which is always good with outdoor events ^-^ Missed the Japanese archers. I would really liked to have seen tht. But they had the sweetest little girls performing traditional dances. They were so cute all dressed up! Yumi and I went dressed as Momusu girls. Which didn't get quite as much attention as Digimon :p Maybe it's because I wasn't wearing a hat *lol* But I did buy a beautiful rice paper and bamboo parasol which I absolutely adore. And you'll have to see Scuzzi's report about the candy Godzilla! (Go on - go and look!) It was still fun (as it always is) just seeing everything that was there.

SUNDAY

YUMI: Had to work even longer hours this day so spent most of the day in kimono >.< And it was hotter than Saturday with no cloud cover or breeze. Missed a lot of stuff, but it was fun hanging out with Scuzzi. I was able to watch the candyman make her the Godzilla candy which was cool. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the ogre that close up. I always see him from a distance :( Spent some time wandering and met up with my bro-in-law for a short bit. I will convert him into an anime freak! *evil laughter* J/K Anyhows, don't think I have much to say. Working always takes away your fun time and there's not much to talk about work so there you go...

SCUZZI: One of my fave annual Matsuri performances is the Taiko Drummers. I arrived about a half hour before their performance and while I was waiting and wandering one of the highlights of my time at Matsuri occured! (Live with my storytelling for a moment). I was watching the candy man (my other Matsuri highlight, but one story at a time...) when I heard drumming. I thought - "Oh, no! The taiko started early!" - and I got up to go see. But it wasn't the taiko. Up the walkway came a drummer, flutist, cymbal player and Ogre! Okay, okay...ogre dancer. I followed to get pictures and it came right almost right up to me. Practically face to face! It was sooo cool!
After that I left to watch the taiko which was as good as ever. Then I met up briefly with Yumi before going back to watch the candy man. Which brings us to highlight #2. At this point you're probably wondering who the candy man is. The candy man is a...candy artist. He takes candy and shapes it into all sorts of designs. Flowers, animals, kaiju (monsters)...all sorts of things. And he does it right there in front of you in between 5-7 minutes time! I decided to get one this year. I ordered Godzilla. You wouldn't believe how excited the crowd was when they heard he was going to shape Godzilla. Anyway, I have pictures of my Godzilla candy! It does look like Godzilla! And taste good too.
So after that I met up with Yumi and wandered a bit more. And everyone wanted to see my Godzilla candy. (One person even asked "Where's Megalon?" ) There was some cool origami and some traditional music and dancing, but all and all it was sort of boring after my two highlights. One last funny note is I was in my "Bad-girl Kaori" outfit (inspired by Memory New York Mix) but I guess I didn't carry the whole bad girl thing well because everyone talked to me. Seriously, I've never been chatted to so much in all the Matsuri I've been to. Weird...
